Beautiful 2 masted stay-sail 33.30m Schooner built by Ortona Navi Shipyard in 1978 and designed by Giorgetti et Magrini. Steel hull with aluminium superstructure. She was completely rebuilt from a bare hull in 2001/2003 by the CN Sestri yard (Bureau Veritas) under the direction of designer Angelo Orlandini. 2 x Caterpillar 350 hp engines, transatlantic range. 4 double guest cabins and 3 crew cabins.

French commercial flag. Kept in Bureau Veritas. Maltese Cross class (last inspection 2010).

Construction & Class

Built in 1978 at the Ortona Navi Shipyard (builder of the first Perini Navi), design by Giorgetti et Magrini. Steel hull and deck, aluminium superstructure, light alloy for the roof. Complete reconstruction from bare hull in 2001/2003 by current owner at the CN Sestri yard in Italy under Bureau Veritas control and with the cooperation of the designer Angelo Orlandini. Kept in Bureau Veritas 981T1 Maltese Cross class, last inspection 2010. Bureau Veritas performed an untra-sonic test of the hull and found no structural defects, thickness was found to 7mm along centre-line, 5mm above and 10mm for the ballast casing.

History

The yacht has done extensive cruising in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean for charter activities and diving up to 1995 entertaining 16 people aboard. She was hauled out and laid up in 1995 and underwent a rebuilt into a pleasure yacht by her 2nd owner who was unable to finish due to ill health. The present owner bought her in 2001 and she underwent a complete reconstruction from bare hull in 2001/2003.

Engines

Powered by twin Caterpillar 3196 diesel engines of 350 hp each wth 4.000 hours run. Consumption of 80 L/H, fuel capacity 17.000 L, transatlantic range with a fuel consumption of only 40 L/H. Water capacity 10.000 L.

Accommodation

Sleeps 8 in 4 double staterooms all ensuite. Master cabin aft with double bed, flatscreen TV, DVD, ensuite bathroom with jacuzzi and steam-bath. Forward guest stateroom with double bed, flatscreen TV, ensuite bathroom. 2 twin guest cabins both with ensuite bathrooms and TV. Stereo system with CD throughout. 42" Panasonic plasma TV in saloon, DVD, Mini DV cam recorder, Pentium 4 computer (windows XP), Bose sound system. Mahogany wood in saloon & master, cherry wood in cabins & pilot-house. Ceiling halogen lights with dimmers. 3 crew cabins sleeping 6 (1 double, 2 twin with bathrooms), crew mess.

Yankee:
Hydraulic furler BAMAR. Local control on deck and remote control in pilot-house.
Tracks and cars on aft toe rail : FREDERIKSEN. On each side, a stainless steel hydraulic winch ANDERSEN 4500 STH  for sheet control. Cover broken for the Port one.
Stay-sail:
Hydraulic furler BAMAR. Local control on deck and remote control in pilot-house.
Transversal track and car : FREDERIKSEN on fore deck. Self-tacking. The Port stainless steel hydraulic winch ANDERSEN 66ST is used to control the self-tacking traveller and to control the sheet the same winch or the Stbd one is used.
Stay-sail:
Hydraulic furler BAMAR. Local control on deck and remote control in pilot-house.
Transversal track and car : FREDERIKSEN on the roof. Self-tacking. One stainless steel hydraulic winch ANDERSEN 44ST to control the self-tacking traveller and one ANDERSEN 66ST to control the sheet. Stainless steel ladder to go on the roof in addition of the teak scales.
Mainsail on aft mast:
Two stainless steel hydraulic winches ANDERSEN 44ST two life-lines to secure
round the mast step to hoist the main. A third one for reefing. Two stainless steel hydraulic winches ANDERSEN 78ST on aft deck to control both main sheets.
SPI.
Fisherman, unused (between the two masts):
Two BAMAR électro-hydraulic power units, 24V (Domestic Batt.), located aft Stb side of the Eng. Room. They supply the furlers and the Andersen winches. Furlers and the Andersen winches have a local control on deck and remote control in pilot-house.

Running rigging

Fore deck, on each side of the mast : 2 hydraulic ANDERSEN 66ST  for yankee, stay-sail and fisherman halyards and for stay-sail traveller car adjustment and sheet tension.
Roof, in front of pilot-house, Port side : 1 hydraulic ANDERSEN 44ST for stay-sail traveller car adjustment and 1 hydraulic ANDERSEN 66ST for sheet tension.
Roof, above the pilot-house, round mast step : 3 hydraulic ANDERSEN 66ST for main sail (halyard and reefing).
On side-decks : 2 manual HARKEN 64-2 ST for fore mast back-stays. Manual to avoid to over-pulling the back-stays.
Aft deck : 2 hydraulic ANDERSEN 4500 STH for yankee sheets.
Aft deck : 2 hydraulic ANDERSEN 78ST for main sheets
Halyards: Except for the spi and the main, they are hoisted by a winch and blocked in a coin-squeezer Spinlock cleat.

Spars & standing rigging

SPARS : lacquered light alloy (paint 2002), masts from the origin. The lower part of the masts had been changed. The tanks vents are hiden inside.

  • Fore mast :
    • Keel stepped type.
    • 2 stages of spreaders. Flood lights under.
    • Ball bearing track for the fisherman.
    • A bump on the mast, below the upper spreaders : without consequence.
  • Spi-pole stored along the mast.
  • Main aft mast :
    • Keel stepped type.
    • 2 stages of spreaders. Flood lights under.
    • Ball bearing track for full-batten mainsail.
    • Horn, SAT TV and two radar antennae on mast.
  • Boom : alu, 2002, open type to store the main with the help of the lazy-jacks. Paint blisters under the boom, around the main sheet fittings.
